Halloween har sitt ursprung i begreppen Allhallows och Hallowmas
som var en högtid för att hylla de döda inom de
Romersk katolska och anglikanska kyrkorna. Påven Bonifacius
IV inrättade firandet av Alla Helgons Dag den 1 november.
Bonifacius valdes till påve 608 och dog 615. De historiska
rötterna till Halloween kan återfinnas i de förkristna
fester som baserades i tro på de dödas andar och övernaturliga
krafter. Halloween är numer en högtid som uppmärksammas
kvällen den 31 oktober särskilt i Nordamerika och allt
mer också i Västeuropa

The origins of Halloween could
be found in Allhallows or Hallowmas, a holy day celebrating the
dead in the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches. Pope Boniface
IV instituted All Saints Day on the 1st of November. Boniface
was elected pope 608 and died 615. Halloween is historically
related to Pre-Christian Religions festivities based on folk
beliefs concerning spirits of the dead and supernatural forces.
Halloween is nowadays a holiday observed on the evening of October
31 in most areas of North America and more often in Western Europe.
